Another walk in the beautiful Wallis Creek featuring and overhang with stalagtights and stalagmites.

G5 Wallis Creek Walk

Eight walkers embarked on another walk in the beautiful Wallis Creek. This time we entered via a tributary to the east of Barniers Rd and soon came upon an impressive overhang that contained numerous stalactites and stalagmites. We continued down the minor tributary negotiating a few fallen trees and overgrown areas before coming to the major tributary junction.  We stopped for morning tea above the junction on a beautiful mossy but leech infested lawn, overlooking a canyon section and waterfall. The rest of the walk featured the usual array of green mossy rocks, beautiful pools and a large swamp Melaleuca. We exited up a spur on the true left when the planned undercliff looked too difficult to negotiate.  We passed a very large Sydney Bluegum before finding the logging side road off Barniers rd. Unfortunately, somebody had previously inhabited the area in a camper trailer and left behind the camper, cars and a massive mess of beer bottles. Before returning to the cars for afternoon tea, we walked to the end of Barniers Rd to take in the beautiful views over the Congewai valley.
